STOTT PILATES® BARRELS LEVEL 1 COURSE – (IBRL)
After being introduced to the Barrels in Matwork, this course provides an abundance of new material to enhance any programming scenario. Learn new exercises along with variations and modifications to expand workouts at any level.

What you will learn
The STOTT PILATES® Barrels Level 1 Course (IBRL) prepares you to teach Level 1 (Essential and Intermediate) exercises on the Barrels. Learn to fine-tune personal and circuit training programs to meet a variety of client’s conditioning goals with 98 exercises on the Ladder Barrel, Spine Corrector and Arc Barrel.
Instructors learn:
Effective use of the equipment to enhance torso stability and strength, peripheral conditioning, joint stability, flexibility, balance and coordination.
How to develop dynamic programs in a full studio environment.
Effective communication and observational skills, verbal cuing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation.
Exercise layering related to effective program design.
Exercises from the STOTT PILATES Essential and Intermediate Barrel repertoire
How to support the spine in flexion, lateral flexion or extension, to target core and peripheral muscle groups, and to adapt exercises to specific body types
How to incorporate the barrels into a full-body workout and program for specific body types, postural issues and conditions
To develop effective communication and observational skills, verbal cueing and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation
Pre-requisites
Prior attendance at the STOTT PILATES® Matwork + Props Level 1 Course (IMP) and/or the STOTT PILATES® Reformer Level 1 (IR) Course/s.

STOTT PILATES® Barrels Level 1 Course (IBRL)
The STOTT PILATES® Barrels Level 1 Course involves 10 hours of instructor training conducted over 2 days:
Day 1/2: Friday 11 April 2025, 11.00am-4.30pm
Day 2/2: Saturday 12 April 2025, 12.00pm-5.30pm
Can’t attend all the group class time? Make up missed hours privately, i.e 5 hrs of missed group time = 2.5 hrs private one-on-one instructor training time. Conditions apply.

After training, instructors can begin teaching clients as a ‘STOTT PILATES® Trained Instructor’. Upon certification instructors can advertise their ‘STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor’ status.
If you choose to become certified in the STOTT PILATES® method, you have 6 months from the last day of your course to sit your exam. If this time expires, you are required to book at least 1 hour with an Instructor Trainer to reinstate your eligibility.
Note: no additional post course costs are applicable to receive these requirements.
Requirements of certification
10 hours of instruction and supervised teaching (completed when attending the STOTT PILATES® Cadillac Level 1 Course)
Minimum of 5 hours of observation
Minimum of 10 hours of physical review
Minimum of 5 hours of practice teaching
Total: 30 hours
Observation hours can be logged by observing a STOTT PILATES® Instructor Trainer or a certified STOTT PILATES® Instructor. If access to either is not possible due to location challenges, these hours can be logged by observing your course material DVDs supplied.
Physical review hours can be logged by practicing the course content yourself (or being taught by a STOTT PILATES® Certified Instructor)
Practice teaching hours are logged by teaching clients/friends/fellow students, etc.
