Be Pilates NZ (New Zealand’s Licensed Training Centre for Merrithew – STOTT PILATES/Total Barre/Fascial Movement Education), are now offering virtual workshops that can be taken remotely via Zoom.

Due to the positive feedback we received from teaching the STOTT PILATES virtual workshops recently, we are excited to announce further virtual training opportunities including a STOTT PILATES Anatomy Workshop + new Workshop topics!

The Workshops are open to EVERYONE who are wanting to start their Instructor journey (as no pre-reqs are required) or for those who are wanting a little taster of what STOTT PILATES is all about.  They’re also perfect for current Instructors who want to up-skill, complete their professional development credits and expand their Pilates offering.

The Workshops will be presented from the STOTT PILATES NZ Licensed Training Centre in the Hawke’s Bay to your bubble via Zoom video link.  The virtual experience will be enhanced with great technology and will remain a fun and non-intimidating means of keeping your mind and body engaged in learning while you have the time to give back to you!!

STOTT PILATES Workshops are renowned to be action packed, full of valuable information, relevant repertoire and teaching techniques that can be utilised in your current Zoom + upcoming in-person Matwork client classes, or learned and refined before you attend a STOTT PILATES course.  Read the testimonials of those who experienced the virtual training recently below!

Virtual Online Training Options

Private custom training: ‘Custom Repertoire Review Sessions’.  Have you completed a STOTT PILATES, Total Barre or Merrithew Fascial Movement Course already and do you have areas you would like to review?  These Custom Repertoire Review sessions could be a review of your Postural Analysis skills, an Exam Review or I can teach you particular course content if you have the relevant props or machines onsite, etc.  Email your personalised requested and we can tailor a customised Instructor Training session especially for you!

Workshop Topics: A list of workshops are on offer below.

Duration: The duration of each Group or Private workshop is either 2, 4 or 6 hours long (we will allocate an extra 15 minutes per hour to allow for potential online technical issues).  Private Custom Repertoire Reviews can run for a maximum of 4 hours at a time p/day.

Attendance: Workshop Group attendance will be restricted up to 10 participants only (‘in person’ attendance is 18 participants).  Private training is 1-1.  There is no pre-requisite to attend these workshops, all participants are welcome!

Price: Group workshops: NZ$150 p/2hr workshop, incl GST & workshop notes (note ‘in person’ group 2hr workshops cost NZ$180 each).  Save $100 when enrolling in 5 x 2hr workshops.  4hr workshop: NZ$300.  6hr workshop: NZ$400.  No extra cost for extra time that maybe required.  Private workshops & Custom Review training: NZ$180 p/1hr.  Note no charge is required for pre-course registration to discuss your training ambitions (including email/phone enquiries).

CECs: Full Merrithew continued education credits will be offered.  Excellent method of receiving your yearly professional development credits, without additional travel expenses.  All training will be registered with Merrithew and a letter of completion will be sent to you directly from Merrithew Head Office.  In order to receive full credit of participation, students must complete and physically participate in the full online workshop and adhere to the Merrithew policies & procedures.

Digital Platform: We will be using Zoom to connect to our students, therefore students will require a strong internet via a landline connection, or a very fast internet speed.  Students cannot record their screen, take photos or audio recordings.  The same policies around photography, video and/or audio recording on our global policies & procedures still apply.

Equipment & Workshop Notes: Students must have the correct props in order to take the workshop, (e.g. have a Flex-Band to attend the Flex-Band workshop).  We will send you exclusive digital PDF workshop notes prior to the workshop starting.

This workshop, developed by the Merrithew team, outlines the importance of postural analysis in programming STOTT PILATES® workouts. Discuss the differences between static and dynamic posture and consider how each affects exercise choices and modifications necessary. Review postural theory relating to the effect of certain postures on muscle length and strength and actively practice postural analysis.

This workshop, developed by the Merrithew™ team, outlines the importance of postural analysis in programming STOTT PILATES® workouts. Review ideal posture as well as specific deviations found in flat back, sway back and kyphosis-lordosis posture types. Discover how muscle imbalances typically manifest in static posture and practice conducting postural analysis. Finally, explore common Pilates exercise choices and modifications to accommodate these imbalances and work toward restoring adequate length and strength in the musculature over time.

16. STOTT PILATES® Anatomy Review Workshop: May 2020 – Day/Times TBC

This lecture, developed by the Merrithew team, is a review for those who already have functional anatomy knowledge. Topics include: basic biomechanics (levers, effects of gravitational force, effects of muscle force), anatomical terminology, skeletal anatomy, actions at the joints, major muscle groups and the muscles’ origin insertion and action. Select exercises from the STOTT PILATES® repertoire are also broken down and analyzed in terms of the functional anatomy at play. Participants will deepen their understanding of the body and enhance their teaching.
Learning Objectives:
1. Understand levers, effects of gravitational force and effects of muscle force
2. Review anatomical terminology
3. Review musculoskeletal anatomy
